On the Classification of Defective Threefolds

چکیده
In this paper we give the full classification of irreducible projective threefolds whose k-secant variety has dimension smaller than the expected, for some k ≥ 2 (see theorem 0.1 below). As pointed out in the introduction, the case k = 1 was already known before.

Projective Threefolds on Which Sl(2) Acts with 2-dimensional General Orbits
The birational geometry of projective threefolds on which SL(2) acts with 2-dimensional general orbits is studied from the viewpoint of the minimal model theory of projective threefolds. These threefolds are closely related to the minimal rational threefolds classified by Enriques, Fano and Umemura. The main results are (i) the SL(2)-birational classification of such threefolds and (ii) the cla...
متن کاملOn a Class of Non-simply Connected Calabi-yau Threefolds
We construct and obtain a detailed classification for a class of non-simply connected Calabi-Yau threefolds which are of potential interest for a wide range of problems in string phenomenology. These threefolds arise as quotients of Schoen’s Calabi-Yau threefolds, which are fiber products over P of two rational elliptic surfaces. The quotient is by a freely acting finite abelian group preservin...
متن کاملON THE CLASSIFICATION OF DEGREE 1 ELLIPTIC THREEFOLDS WITH CONSTANT j-INVARIANT
We describe the possible Mordell-Weil groups for degree 1 elliptic threefold with rational base and constant j-invariant. Moreover, we classify all such elliptic threefolds if the j-invariant is nonzero. We can use this classification to describe a class of singular hypersurfaces in P(2, 3, 1, 1, 1) that admit no variation of Hodge structure. (Remark 9.3.)
متن کاملCanonical Toric Fano Threefolds
An inductive approach to classifying all toric Fano varieties is given. As an application of this technique, we present a classification of the toric Fano threefolds with at worst canonical singularities. Up to isomorphism, there are 674,688 such varieties.
متن کاملF Theory Vacua in Four Dimensions and Toric Threefolds
We investigate D=4, N=1 F theory models realized by type IIB string compactification on toric threefolds. Massless spectra, gauge symmetries, phase transitions associated with divisor contractions and flops, and non-perturbative superpotentials are analyzed using elementary toric methods.
